How It Works

1. What’s included in the price of the class?

All bitters, syrups, local herbs and other ingredients are included in the cost of your class. Your instructor will also bring shakers and all bar tools. Alcohol is not included in the price of the class.

2. Where do the classes take place?

All of our classes take place in your home, a friends’ home, or a space that you provide.

3. What do I need to host a class in my home?

All you need is a table or large flat surface

4. How long is a typical class?

Cocktail making classes are about 1.5 hours long. Your mixologist will arrive 10 minutes before the start of your class to prep ingredients and mixing stations

5. How many cocktails will we make in the class?

You will make three cocktails in your class. If you’d like to arrange for a class that includes more or less cocktails, let us know, and we’ll help organize and adjust the price.

6. What do I need to provide?

You provide the base spirits required for the class, ice, and glasses. Our instructors will always give their alcohol brand recommendations, but you choose the type and price point that’s best for you.

7. Is alcohol included?

Due to state liquor laws, alcohol is not included in the price of the class. You provide your own base spirits for your cocktail making class, our instructors will always give recommendations.

8. Where can I purchase base spirits for my class?

You can purchase spirits for your class at your local liquor store, or order online for free delivery to your home through our friends at Drizly. Use the code SPICEANDSPOON for $10 off your first order.

9. Does the instructor clean up?

Yes, your instructor will clean up after the class. You just sit back, relax, and enjoy.

10. Do I pay ahead of time or after the class is over?

Payment for classes is made ahead of time, and is required to confirm the class and hold the date.

11. Can I play music?

Yes! Music is a welcomed addition to set the mood.

12. Can I have food?

Yes. Most of our customers have food and snacks alongside our classes. Our instructors will provide a light bar snack as well.

13. Is tip included or should I tip my instructor?

Tip is not included in the price of the class. While it is not required, feel free to tip as you see fit based on the service you received.

14. Can I request a custom class?

Yes. If you would like a class that’s not on the site, email us at info@spiceandspoon.com with your request, and we’ll help you sort it out.

15. What if I have allergies?

No problem. Let us know of any allergies ahead of time, our instructors will make adjustments to the classes to accommodate.

16. Can I book a corporate event?

Yes, visit our corporate events page and simply fill out the form. One of our team members will be in touch to help organize.

17. What is a Spice & Spoon class, and what are craft cocktails?

A Spice & Spoon class is a hands-on craft cocktail making class. We work with professional mixologists to bring you seasonally inspired cocktail making classes that use the freshest local herbs and botanicals, syrups and inventive ingredients. Classes take place in your home, a friends home, office space or another space you have provided for.

18. Can I take a class alone?

Yes, classes are offered for as few as one person.

19. Can I book a class for two people?

Yes, classes can be requested for two people. Cocktail making classes make for great dates.

20. Can I purchase a gift card?

Of course! Fill out the form on our gift card request page, and we’ll get back to you with your e-gift card for the designated amount.

21. Do I need an account to book a class?

Yes, an account is required to book a class. You can browse class options without having an account, but we will need some information to book the class.

Bookings, Cancellations & Payments

1. How do I request and book a class?

Simply find a class you like and fill out the request form to book a class. We’ll arrange with the instructor for your particular date, time and group size, and send you an invoice for the class. Once the invoice is paid, your class is confirmed.

2. How far in advance do I need to book?

While we don’t require a specific amount of advanced notice for booking classes, we suggest booking two to three weeks in advance of your required date.

3. What is the cancellation policy?

Cancellations within 72 hours of the class date are non-refundable. In the unlikely event that your instructor cancels the class, you will be fully refunded.

4. What if my instructor cancels the class?

In the unlikely event that your instructor cancels the class, you will be fully refunded.

5. Can I add additional guests after I’ve reserved a class?

Yes, you can add additional guests up to 72 hours before your class date. Let us know you would like to add guests, and we'll send an updated invoice reflective of price changes (if any). If you request to add guests within the 72 hour class window, you will be charged the same per person price that you were originally quoted, regardless of the total number of guests in your group.

6. Can I remove guests after I have reserved a class?

Yes, you can remove guests up to 72 hours before your class date, provided your group does not fall under 6 guests. If you cancel up to 72 hours before your class date, and your group number falls below 6 guests, you will not be refunded. If you cancel a seat within 72 hours of your class date, you will not be refunded for that seat.

7. How do I pay?

Spice & Spoon accepts payments via PayPal and Venmo. If you are a corporation or non-profit entity, we also accept payment via check or direct deposit.

8. When is my class confirmed?

When payment is received, your class is confirmed.

9. How do I use a coupon code?

Include your unique code in the ‘additional comments’ box on your class request form. We’ll apply it to the total cost of your class.

10. How do I use a gift card?

Include your gift card code in the ‘additional comments’ box on your class request form. We’ll apply the gift card to the total cost of your class.

11. What if I need to cancel?

If you need to cancel a class, email info@spiceandspoon.com with the subject line “Cancellation” and let us know. We’ll cancel your class and refund you fully if you’ve canceled prior to a week before your class.

12. Do you offer credit for a cancelled class?

We do offer credit if you cancel between 1 week and 72 hours before the class. If you cancel within 72 hours you will not receive a credit or refund.

Instructors

1. Who are your instructors?

Our instructors are professional trained bartenders and mixologists. They are passionate about creating unique cocktails with interesting and sometimes unusual ingredients and sharing them with you.

2. Do you run background checks on your instructors?

Yes, a full background check is run on all of our instructors. We also conduct in person meetings and trainings before sending an instructor to your home. Spice & Spoon’s commitment to quality is of the utmost importance. We want you to have a great time, so we spend a lot of our time finding the right instructors to bring you a great experience!

3. Can I message a mixologist or speak with her/him directly?

Spice & Spoon facilitates communication with our instructors, however, if you have any special questions you need to discuss with an instructor, let us know and we will put you in touch.
